Louisa County 4-H Member Receives Lloyd Inc 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa -- A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Louisa County 4-H member. Kate Dion, Ames, has received a Lloyd, Inc. 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Lloyd, Inc.

Dion, a 10-year 4-H member, is the daughter of John and Donna Dion. She has participated most actively in the project areas of food and nutrition, swine and rabbits. On the state level, she has received the World Food Prize Iowa 4-H Centennial award. She also served as president and secretary of her 4-H club.

“4-H allowed me the opportunity to explore my interests which helped me determine that a career in large animal medicine is what I want to do,” Dion said.

Dion is a senior at Iowa State University majoring in animal science. She is also an active member of pre-vet club, agriculture ambassadors and dairy science club.

In Iowa, the 4-H program is a part of Iowa State University Extension and headquartered on the ISU campus in Ames. For more information about 4-H, how to get involved, or how to apply for a 4-H scholarship contact the local county office of ISU Extension.
