AMES, Iowa -- A $1,500 scholarship has been awarded to a Poweshiek County 4-H member. Amanda Crawford, Grinnell, has received the Oster Journalism 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Merril J. Oster of Cedar Falls.
Crawford, a nine-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Dennis and Renny Crawford. She has participated most actively in the project areas of communications, child development and home improvement. She served as president and vice-president of her 4-H club. She was also a member of her county 4-H council, National 4-H Congress and Iowa 4-H Youth Council.
“4-H helped me discover my love for public speaking and gave me a foundation of skills and confidence to build upon,” Crawford said. “Along with lots of memories and great friends.”
Crawford is a junior at Iowa State University majoring in journalism. She is also actively involved in Alpha Delta Pi sorority, Government of the Student Body, student alumni leadership council, and ISU tv.
