Register a Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service Project
AMES, Iowa--The Corporation for National and Community Service has recently launched “My MLK Day” in preparation for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 15, 2007.
“My MLK Day” is an online tool for those organizing Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service projects. On the Web site are tools to help register projects, manage volunteers and report results. It gives tips, ideas and resources to aid in facilitating successful projects as well. Individuals may search for volunteer opportunities with registered MLK Day Projects.
“The Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service is an excellent opportunity to ‘live’ the 4-H pledge, letting members pledge their hands to larger service for their club, their community and their world,” said Mitch Hoyer, Iowa State University Extension 4-H youth development specialist. “As many students will be out of school on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, we encourage members and clubs to use this day as an opportunity to provide additional service and strengthen local communities.”
