Community Tree Steward Program Offered in Central Iowa
AMES, Iowa – This year, Iowa State University (ISU) Extension Forestry and Horticulture is offering the Iowa Community Tree Steward Program to the residents of Polk and surrounding counties in May and June.
The Iowa Community Tree Steward Program is intended for citizens and professionals who wish to learn more about trees and tree care. The course consists of six hands-on classes that cover tree identification, tree selection, landscape planning, pruning, planting, disease and insect management, risk tree assessment and much more. The classes will be held from 6 - 10 p.m. The cost is $30 per person. The dates are May 15, 22 and 29 and June 5, 12 and 19.
The program is sponsored by ISU Extension, Iowa Department of Natural Resources, Iowa Urban and Community Forestry Council, Trees Forever, the Iowa Arborist Association and the USDA Forest Service.
