4-H Offers New Art, Communication Scholarships

AMES, Iowa -- Youth who have been 4-H members in Polk County may apply for two new scholarships from the Iowa 4-H Foundation. The $500 scholarships are made available by Cheryl and David Pence of Ankeny, Iowa.

To be eligible for the Visual Arts 4-H Scholarship, applicants must document participation in the 4-H visual arts project. Applicants for the Communications 4-H Scholarship must document participation in the 4-H communications project. Both scholarships may be used at any Iowa college for any field of study.

“Cheryl has been one of our 4-H judges for several years and both she and Dave have been long-time 4-H supporters,” said Mitchell Hoyer, program coordinator with the Iowa State University (ISU) Extension 4-H Youth Program.

Applications are due Feb. 1 to the Iowa 4-H Foundation, Extension and 4-H Youth Building, Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa 50011-3630. For more information, contact the Polk County office of ISU Extension, (515) 263-2660.
