Buena Vista County 4-H’er Earns Leadership Project Award

AMES, Iowa – Sydni Williams of Buena Vista County received a state 4-H leadership project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Mary Jo and Glen Mente Endowment. Williams, 19, is the daughter of Mark and Deb Williams of Storm Lake.

 

During her nine years in 4-H, Williams completed several major projects including leadership, communication, photography, citizenship and poultry. She received state 4-H honors such as a poultry project award and a communications excellence award. Along with these, Williams received many honors at the county level such as the Rafa Worthan Award, senior merit and achievement award, the Craig Sump Memorial Award and the Danforth “I Dare You” Award. She was president, vice president, treasurer and secretary of her 4-H club. She served on her county, area and state 4-H councils and her county youth committee and attended National 4-H Congress. She also participated in the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference and Citizenship-Washington Focus.

 

“4-H gave me the freedom to explore many areas including poultry and communications,” said Williams. “Thanks to my 4-H experiences, I am now majoring in communications.”

 

Williams is a freshman at William Jewel College.
