Worth County 4-H’er Earns Leadership Project Award
9/27/2006
AMES, Iowa – Elizabeth Hill of Worth County received a state 4-H leadership project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Iowa 4-H Foundation. Hill, 18, is the daughter of Eric and Alison Hill of Manly.
During her eight years in 4-H, Hill has completed several major projects including leadership, communication, food and nutrition, visual arts and sewing. She has received state 4-H project awards in communication and food and nutrition. Along with these, Hill has received many county-level awards in the same project areas. She has been secretary and historian of her 4-H club, and was a Share the Fun activity coordinator. Hill also has served on her county, area and state 4-H councils. She has participated in the National 4-H Congress and the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference. She is also a member of the 2006 National Congress Design Team.
“One of the best parts of 4-H is that it enables kids to learn by teaching,” said Hill. “If it wasn’t for this learning-by-teaching method, I wouldn’t be as knowledgeable in project areas or have the communication and leadership skills that I possess today.”
Hill is a senior that is dual-enrolled in home schooling and at Northwood-Kensett High School.
