AMES, Iowa – Michelle Eberhart of Clinton County received a state 4-H leadership project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Mary Jo and Glen Mente Endowment. Eberhart, 16, is the daughter of Joseph and Da Vonne Eberhart of Delmar.
During her seven years in 4-H, Eberhart has completed several major projects including leadership, citizenship, communication, pets and beef. She has received state 4-H honors in clothing selection, educational presentations, posters, extemporaneous speaking and health. Along with these, Eberhart has received many county-level awards such as judges’ choice for outstanding intermediate exhibitor, grand champion dairy steer and best rate of gain. She also has been the secretary, historian and reporter of her 4-H club. Eberhart also served on her county 4-H council.
“4-H has helped me not only to fulfill leadership duties, but to create them,” said Eberhart. “It has also taught me that learning a new skill is beneficial but taking the opportunity to share it with others is what makes you successful. 4-H has influenced me to study business, marketing communications and public relations when I go to college.”
Eberhart is a junior at Maquoketa High School.
