Humboldt County 4-H’er Earns Clothing Project Award

AMES, Iowa – Amber Bacon of Worth County received a state 4-H clothing project award that includes a $100 savings bond from Latham Seeds and the Mary Jo and Glen Mente Endowment. Bacon, 19, is the daughter of Les and Diane Bacon of Humboldt.

 

During her 11 years in 4-H, Bacon completed several major projects including clothing, home improvement, beef and animal science. She received many state 4-H honors such as State Fair top 10 percent in fashion revue, the Danforth “I Dare You” award and a Chicago awards trip in 2005. Along with these, Bacon received her county agricultural award, as well as awards in clothing, beef and animal science. She also was the president of her 4-H club for seven years. She also served on her county 4-H council.

 

“My communication skills and self-esteem has improved greatly,” said Bacon of how her 4-H experience has impacted her. “My social skills have also improved because I have had to communicate with members and leaders in my club and county as well as judges at the fair.”

 

Bacon is a freshman at Iowa Central Community College.
