Calhoun County 4-H’er Earns Home Improvement Project Award

AMES, Iowa – Jaclyn Wernimont of Calhoun County received a state 4-H home improvement project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Iowa 4-H Foundation and Latham Seeds. Wernimont, 16, is the daughter of Norm and Diane Wernimont of Auburn.

 

During her seven years in 4-H, Wernimont has completed several major projects including home improvement, photography, clothing, food and nutrition and citizenship. She has received many state 4-H honors such as a seal of excellence for her working exhibit and state blue ribbons in home improvement, photography and food and nutrition. Along with these, Wernimont has received many honors at the county level such as the AK-SAR-BEN Award, Danforth “I Dare You” Award, top family and consumer science award, and first place in the Pride of Iowa and Fashion Review. She has been vice president, historian and secretary of her 4-H club. She has participated in the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.

 

“4-H has been a great learning experience,” said Wernimont. “It has helped me to become more organized and confident. It has also enabled me to share my knowledge and ideas with others while also helping the community.”

 

Wernimont is a junior at Southern Calhoun High School.
