Woodbury County 4-H’er Earns Communication Project Award

AMES, Iowa – Tony Ullrich of Woodbury County received a state 4-H communication project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Mary Jo and Glen Mente Endowment. Ullrich, 18, is the son of Tom and Roxie Ullrich of Sloan.
During his nine years in 4-H, Ullrich completed several major projects including communication, personal development, horse, visual arts and veterinary medicine. He received many awards at the county level such as spirit of 4-H, project achievement and senior essay contest winner. Ullrich received the northwest area project achievement award and was on his county’s recognition team. He was president, vice president and treasurer of his 4-H club, and served on his county 4-H council.
“My 4-H experience has helped me gain insight into the value of connecting with people when in pursuit of a story or a career,” said Ullrich.
Ullrich is a freshman at Western Iowa Tech.
