AMES, Iowa – Amy Peyton of Sac County received a state 4-H home improvement project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Mary Jo and Glen Mente Endowment. Peyton, 17, is the daughter of Harold and Sue Peyton of Sac City.
During her nine years in 4-H, Peyton has completed several major projects including home improvement, citizenship, leadership, communication and clothing. She has received state 4-H awards for her clothing exhibits and other projects. Along with these, Peyton has received many top county-level awards such as record book, educational presentation, clothing selection and fashion revue. She also has been the president and secretary of her 4-H club. She has served on her county 4-H council and youth committee, area and state 4-H councils, and was a member of the Iowa 4-H Technology Team. Peyton also has participated in the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference and was a 4-H exchange program host.
“4-H has been a big influence in my life,” said Peyton. “I have become a better person through my 4-H activities and I have learned to be a good leader in my club, community and everything else I do.”
Peyton is a junior at Sac Community High School.
