AMES, Iowa – Amy Paul of Polk County received a state 4-H leadership project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Mary Jo and Glen Mente Endowment. Paul, 18, is the daughter of Kevin and Kathy Paul of Clive.
During her nine years in 4-H, Paul completed several major projects including leadership, clothing, visual art, food and nutrition and home improvement. She received the State Fair top 10 percent clothing event award. Along with this, Paul received many county-level honors such as the Danforth “I Dare You” Award, citizenship and leadership awards and was on her county queen’s court. She was president, secretary, historian and treasurer of her 4-H club. She served on her county 4-H council and youth committee.
“To me, 4-H is about living a life of service and being a lifelong learner,” said Paul. “I am studying to be a middle school teacher, and I am so thankful to have my 4-H background as I start out on this path. 4-H has given me an unshakable foundation of values and life skills that have prepared me to go out into the world and continue to learn, grow and make a difference.”
Paul is a freshman at University of Nebraska – Lincoln.
