Jones County 4-H’er Earns Photography Project Award

AMES, Iowa – Brittany Orris of Jones County received a state 4-H photography project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Iowa 4-H Foundation. Orris, 17, is the daughter of Dennis and Julie Orris of Center Junction.

 

During her nine years in 4-H, Orris has completed several major projects including photography, food and nutrition, leadership, swine and beef. She has received state 4-H awards for an educational presentation, working exhibit, exhibit and was a participant in State Fair Celebrity Judging. Along with these, Orris has received many county-level project awards such as fourth overall exhibitor, senior agriculture, senior leadership, and supreme champion market lamb. She has been the president, vice president, historian and secretary of her 4-H club. Orris also has served on her county 4-H council.

 

“Communication is the most important thing I have taken from my 4-H experience,” said Orris. “All of the speaking opportunities have given me confidence and strategy when giving presentations and speeches. 4-H has really helped me to explore my interests, and that will point me towards a promising career.”

 

Orris is a senior at Monticello High School.
