Calhoun County 4-H’er Earns Communication Project Award

AMES, Iowa – Brittany McAlexander of Calhoun County received a state 4-H communication project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Mary Jo and Glen Mente Endowment. McAlexander, 17, is the daughter of Earl and Kerri McAlexander of Rockwell City.
During her nine years in 4-H, McAlexander has completed several major projects including communication, child development, clothing, consumer management and horticulture. She also has been a recipient of the Danforth “I Dare You” Award and a merit award in her home county. She has also been the president, vice president, treasurer and secretary of her 4-H club. McAlexander has served on her county, area and state 4-H councils and has participated in the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.
“4-H has allowed me to meet a lot of great people and travel all over the state and country,” said McAlexander. “It has also helped me to develop various life skills like communication, leadership and citizenship. 4-H has helped me determine the kind of person I want to be.”
McAlexander is a senior at Rockwell City-Lytton High School.
