Emmet County 4-H’er Earns Home Improvement Project Award

AMES, Iowa – Amanda Kropf of Emmet County received a state 4-H home improvement project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Mary Jo and Glen Mente Endowment. Kropf, 16, is the daughter of Ron and Sandy Kropf of Graettinger.

 

During her eight years in 4-H, Kropf has completed several major projects including home improvement, food and nutrition, citizenship, beef and swine. She has received state 4-H awards such as outstanding quilted exhibit and outstanding pork youth ambassador award. Along with these, Kropf has received many county-level project awards in home improvement, food and nutrition, clothing, beef and swine, and received second place senior swine showman. She also has been the president, vice president and secretary of her 4-H club. She has served on her county 4-H council and has participated in the Citizenship-Washington Focus Trip, the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference and Animal Science Round-Up.

 

“Each year I find something new to learn through 4-H,” said Kropf. “It has helped me develop self-confidence and other skills ranging from communications to welding. Through my experiences in 4-H, it has also helped me to decide on my future career in Food Science Technology.”

 

Kropf is a junior at Graettinger-Terril High School.
