Adair County 4-H’er Earns Food & Nutrition Project Award

AMES, Iowa – Alyse Herr of Adair County received a state 4-H food & nutrition project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Iowa 4-H Foundation and the Zetta Lind Memorial. Herr, 18, is the daughter of Paul and Virginia Herr of Fontanelle.

 

During her eight years in 4-H, Herr has completed several major projects including food and nutrition, personal development, clothing and beef. She has received many state 4-H honors, participating in celebrity showcase and earning a project award in beef. Along with these, Herr has received many county-level honors such as the Food and Fitness Golden Apple Award, President’s Service Challenge and an agricultural award. She has been president, vice president, secretary and treasurer of her 4-H club. She has served on her county 4-H council and youth committee, and participated in Citizenship-Washington Focus and the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.

 

“4-H has given me the opportunity to rise to leadership positions in my community,” said Herr. “I have been able to work alongside peers and adults to accomplish projects I never thought possible.”

 

Herr is a senior at Nodaway Valley High School.
