AMES, Iowa – Mary Foell of Sac County received a state 4-H leadership project award that includes a $100 savings bond from Latham Seeds and the Mary Jo and Glen Mente Endowment. Foell, 17, is the daughter of Bill and Laura Foell of Schaller.

During her 10 years in 4-H, Foell has completed several major projects including leadership, citizenship, communication, and horticulture. She has received state 4-H awards in horticulture, citizenship, and leadership. Along with these, Foell has received top junior and intermediate record books in Sac County. She has been president, secretary, treasurer and reporter of her 4-H club. She has served on her county, area and state 4-H councils and attended National 4-H Congress and the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.

“4-H has taught me to be a better citizen and problem solver,” said Foell. “As I become an adult and take on more responsibilities, I will be able to take the skills learned through 4-H and apply them to my personal and professional life.”

Foell is a senior at Schaller-Crestland High School.
