AMES, Iowa – Carrie Dohlman of Howard County received a state 4-H rabbit project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Iowa 4-H Foundation and Latham Seeds. Dohlman, 18, is the daughter of Lowell and Marge Dohlman of Riceville.

During her eight years in 4-H, Dohlman has completed several major projects including rabbit, beef, food and nutrition, swine and visual art. She has received many county-level awards such as the Danforth “I Dare You” Award, Lamp of Knowledge, and project awards in agriculture, rabbit and food and nutrition. Dohlman also has been the president, treasurer, reporter and historian of her 4-H club. She has served on her county 4-H council and youth committee, her area 4-H council and has attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.

“4-H has influenced me in many different ways,” said Dohlman. “It has given me opportunities to work with animals, communicate with people and even taught me how to bake a cake. After working with so many animals through 4-H, I am now considering a career as a zoo keeper.”

Dohlman is a senior at Riceville High School.
