AMES, Iowa – Jenna DeHoet of Buchanan County received a state 4-H photography project award that includes a $100 savings bond from the Iowa 4-H Foundation and the Mary Jo and Glen Mente Endowment. DeHoet, 18, is the daughter of Richard and Linda DeHoet of Jesup.
During her nine years in 4-H, DeHoet completed several major projects including photography, food and nutrition, citizenship and home improvement. She received many state 4-H honors, participating in the Iowa State Fair Camera Corps, and earning state fair blue ribbons in photography, food and nutrition, home improvement and citizenship. Along with these, DeHoet received many county-level honors such as the Jay Partridge Photography Award, Archie Hoeck Horticulture Award, and Buchanan County Fair Queen. She was also president, secretary and treasurer of her 4-H club.
“4-H has taught me many life skills such as public speaking, setting goals and organizing materials and time,” said DeHoet. “Most importantly I have grown through my leadership and citizenship to my community, school and church.”
DeHoet is a freshman at Coe College.
