Worth County 4-H’er Earns Communication Project Award

AMES, Iowa – Courtney Athey of Worth County received a state 4-H communication project award that includes a $100 savings bond from Latham Seeds and the Mary Jo and Glen Mente Endowment. Athey, 17, is the daughter of Deb Athey of Northwood and Gary Athey of Hayfield, Minn.
During her eight years in 4-H, Athey has completed several major projects including communication, citizenship and personal development. She has received many state 4-H honors such as citizenship state project winner and National Congress winner. Along with these, Athey has received the TAP award and top intermediate girl in Worth County. She also has been the reporter for her 4-H club for three years. She serves on her county, area and state 4-H councils and participated in the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.
“4-H has taught me remarkable leadership and communication skills,” said Athey. “It will help me in everything I do.”
Athey is a junior at Northwood-Kensett High School.
