Uhlenhopp to Lead Iowa State Continuing and Distance Education
AMES, Iowa -- Eldon K. Uhlenhopp has been named the interim director of Iowa State University Extension’s Continuing and Distance Education program. His appointment is effective immediately.
Uhlenhopp is an associate professor and also interim associate dean for outreach and operations in ISU’s College of Veterinary Medicine.
“Continuing and Distance Education is very much a part of Iowa State’s land grant mission to create, share and apply knowledge to make Iowa and the world a better place. We have the potential to reach learners of all ages wherever they are, and whatever their learning objectives might be,” Uhlenhopp said.
“Eldon’s teaching and administrative experience will enable us to take Continuing and Distance Education in a new direction,” said Jack Payne, vice president for ISU Extension and Outreach. “We want to grow and improve the program to better serve Iowans and others interested in education from Iowa State.”
The position has been open since May, when William Tysseling, the former director, resigned. The Continuing and Distance Education program is being reorganized, and there will be a national search for a new director, Payne said.
