AMES, Iowa -- The Iowa Collaboration for Youth Development will sponsor a Youth Civic Engagement Policy Forum Oct. 19 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Botanical Center in Des Moines.

The forum aims to bring state and local policymakers together to discuss how youth can be engaged locally and at the state level to improve and positively shape Iowa communities, according to Don Broshar, Iowa State University Extension 4-H youth development specialist.

Participants will hear a panel of youth and adults from several communities in which youth participate in decision-making roles with adults.  In addition, participants will receive other information about successful community efforts to effectively engage youth in civic activities.
