AMES, Iowa – Youth ages 8 to 13 can attend a Fall Fest camp Oct. 21-22 at the Iowa 4-H Center near Madrid.
Fall Fest will combine summer camp favorites such as the climbing tower and campfires with activities such as pumpkin carving, a spooky night hike and a carnival.
“This will be a great weekend to reunite with camp friends, hang out with your favorite camp staff and enjoy the great outdoors,” said Traci Haselhuhn, 4-H Center program director.
Check-in will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Oct.21 with check-out at 4 p.m. Oct. 22. The fee is $60.00, which includes everything from meals to heated cabins. For more information on Fall Fest visit www.iowa4hcamp.com and download the registration form.
Campers also can dedicate some time volunteering to do various camp fix-up projects during Make a Difference Day Oct. 21. This event provides opportunities for youth and adults to offer volunteer service to the camping center.
Camp fix-up volunteers should bring old work clothes and rakes or other tools. Tasks may include cleaning or wood-chipping trails, cleaning lodges and cabins, raking leaves, stacking firewood and painting or staining.
Make a Difference Day runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteers may attend any part of the time. A free lunch will be provided as well as a prize drawing at noon. Camp officials ask that volunteers register for lunch. For more information contact Haselhuhn at (515)795-3338 or tracidh@iastate.edu.
