AMES, Iowa-- Iowa 4-H shooting sports enthusiasts will meet Saturday, Oct. 14 at Sigourney, Iowa, as 22 4-H’ers attempt to qualify for the state team. Qualifiers will attend the National 4-H Shooting Sports Invitational in June 2007.
Event participants are 4-H’ers who are at least age 14 on or before Jan. 1, 2007, and who have participated in state recognized 4-H Safety and Education in Shooting Sports (SESS) programs. Youth and adult visitors may attend the Iowa event.
Competition will begin at 9 a.m. at the Keokuk County Izaak Walton League, located approximately 2 miles east of Sigourney on Highway 92.
Iowa is allowed to send up to four youth in each of four disciplines — riflery, shotgun, archery (recurve and compound) and muzzle loading.
