AMES, Iowa – Diane Jurchen of Cass County has been selected to represent Iowa at the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Ga. Nov. 24-28. She is sponsored by the Iowa Farm Bureau Life Charitable Trust and KMA Radio. Jurchen, 17, is the daughter of Jeff and Linda Jurchen of Cumberland.

Jurchen will join 22 other youth from Iowa at the leadership conference, entitled "Lead, Learn, Grow." Iowa's Congress delegates are selected through interviews and evaluation of support materials. Jurchen, a senior at CAM High School, was chosen for her leadership, citizenship and overall achievement in the 4-H program.

During her nine years in 4-H, Jurchen has completed major projects including rabbits and home improvement. She also has served as president, vice president and treasurer of her 4-H club. Jurchen has served on her county, area and state 4-H councils and her county youth committee. She also has participated in the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference and the Citizenship-Washington Focus trip.

“4-H has helped me become a strong leader,” said Jurchen. “The skills I learned through 4-H will continue to help me when I become a teacher in the future.”
