Muscatine County 4-H'er to attend National 4-H Congress in Atlanta

AMES, Iowa – Bobby Jo Kessler of Muscatine County has been selected to represent Iowa at the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Ga. Nov. 24-28. She is sponsored by the Iowa Farm Bureau Life Charitable Trust and the Bob Skinner Memorial Endowment. Kessler, 17, is the daughter of Jim and Ann Kessler of Walcott.

 

Kessler will join 22 other youth from Iowa at the leadership conference, entitled "Lead, Learn, Grow." Iowa's Congress delegates are selected through interviews and evaluation of support materials. Kessler, a senior at Durant High School, was chosen for her leadership, citizenship and overall achievement in the 4-H program. 

 

During her nine years in 4-H, Kessler has completed major projects including citizenship, beef, food and nutrition, clothing and home improvement. She has received honors at the county level such as a leadership award, livestock achievement award and merit and education awards for her record book. She also has served as president, vice president, treasurer and secretary of her 4-H club. She has served on her county 4-H council and participated in the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.

 

4-H has influenced me as a person by teaching me how to be a leader and the importance of community service," said Kessler. "These skills along with others that I have acquired through 4-H have helped me to choose a future career in the health care industry.
