AMES, Iowa – Anna Grimley of Linn County has been selected to represent Iowa at the National 4-H Congress in Atlanta, Ga. Nov. 24-28. She is sponsored by the Iowa Farm Bureau Life Charitable Trust and the Iowa 4-H Foundation Board Endowment. Grimley, 17, is the daughter of Jeff and Lee Ann Grimley of Springville.
Grimley will join 22 other youth from Iowa at the leadership conference, entitled "Lead, Learn, Grow." Iowa's Congress delegates are selected through interviews and evaluation of support materials. Grimley, a junior at Springville High School, was chosen for her leadership, citizenship and overall achievement in the 4-H program.
During her eight years in 4-H, Grimley has completed major projects including leadership, child development, clothing, food and nutrition and aerospace. She has also served as president of her 4-H club. She has served on her county and state 4-H councils and has participated in the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference and the Citizenship-Washington Focus trip.
“4-H has given me valuable skills I will use throughout my life,” said Grimley. “It encourages me to explore new things and to step out of my comfort zone. I’ve learned to speak clearly, organize my time, work with youth and adults and be a leader in my club. 4-H has given me great memories and friendships.”
