5/19/2006
AMES, Iowa – A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Page County 4-H member. Megan Mier, Clarinda, received an Orscheln 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Orscheln, Inc.
Mier, a nine-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Norman and Linda Mier. She has served as president, vice president and secretary of her 4-H club. Mier has participated most actively in the beef, food and nutrition, textiles and clothing and home improvement project areas. She has been a member of County 4-H Council and participated in Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.
“4-H has definitely had an effect on my future plans. Being a Food and Fitness Teen Ambassador convinced me dietetics was what I wanted to major in,” Mier said. “4-H had a profound effect on my life. It has helped me develop who I am and to realize the potential I have for my future.”
Mier, a recent graduate of Clarinda High School, plans to attend Iowa State University to study dietetics.
