Adair County 4-H Member Receives 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa – A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to an Adair County 4-H member. Matthew Mensing, Greenfield, received the Tobin 4-H Scholarship sponsored by J. Kelly and Irene Tobin.

Mensing, a seven-year 4-H member, is the son of Keith and Sharon Mensing. He has served as president and treasurer of his 4-H club. Mensing has participated most actively in the beef, agriculture and natural resources, photography and science and engineering project areas. He is a member of State 4-H Council. Mensing received an Outstanding Senior 4-H’er Award and an Ak-Sar-Ben Award.

“4-H has improved my leadership, communication and citizenship skills. My leadership skills have been built through club offices, county council, area council and state council. I have learned that serving my community is always time well spent,” Mensing said. “My projects have helped me decide the career area I want to pursue at Iowa State University.”

Mensing, a recent graduate of Orient-Macksburg High School, plans to attend Iowa State University to study agricultural business.
