Linn County 4-H Member Receives Hills Bank - AFA Community 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa -- A $3,200 scholarship has been awarded to a Linn County 4-H member. Allison Hannen, Central City, has received the Hills Bank - AFA Community 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Hills Bank and Agriculture Future of America (AFA).

Hannen, a nine-year member, is the daughter of Steve and Rosie Hannen. She is active in horse, horticulture, dog and photography project areas. Hannen has served as secretary and photographer of her 4-H club and on county youth committee and 4-H council. She has won county dog and vegetable project awards. She has had her photography displayed at the Iowa State Fair. In school, Hannen is active in FFA, National Honor Society and earned academic all-state recognition in volleyball and basketball.

"The importance of 4-H in my life is significant," Hannen said. "4-H has given me not only wonderful experiences and memories but also many relationships I've developed through it. I desire to pursue a career in which I could directly make a difference saving and enriching animals' lives. This, in part, is due to my participation in 4-H."

Hannen is currently a senior at Alburnett High School and plans to attend Iowa State University to major in biology/pre-veterinary medicine.
