Keokuk County 4-H Member Receives the Iowa State Fair 4-H Scholarship


AMES, Iowa-- A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Keokuk County 4-H member. Aaron Fritchen, Ollie, has received an Iowa State Fair 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the Iowa Foundation for Agriculture Advancement.


Fritchen, a nine-year member, is the son of Nathan and Sharon Fritchen. He is active in swine, beef, poultry and horticulture project areas. Fritchen also has been awarded the "I Dare You," Senior Citizenship and Senior Merit awards. He has served on county 4-H council and as president, vice-president and treasurer of his 4-H club. Fritchen has had the grand champion special market broiler pen and has exhibited projects at the Iowa State Fair for several years. In school, he is involved in FFA, National Honor Society and multiple sports.


"In working with different species of livestock I have come to understand the difference and importance of genetics, health care and feed management," said Fritchen. "I feel that I have gained great life experience through 4-H."


Fritchen is currently a senior at Pekin Community High School and plans to major in animal science at Iowa State University.
