Iowa 4-H Youth Kick Off Campaign to Benefit Peers

AMES, Iowa--The annual “4-H’ers For 4-H” campaign kicks into high gear in April with a goal of $30,000 to provide financial assistance to participants in 4-H events and financial support for a summer youth conference, all sponsored by the 4-H Youth Development program of Iowa State University (ISU) Extension.

The campaign is carried out by nearly 30,000 members of Iowa 4-H clubs and is led by 40 high school members of the Iowa 4-H State Council. Each Iowa 4-H club is challenged by a state council member to donate $2.00 per club member to their county extension office by May 15. The Iowa 4-H Foundation also assists with the campaign.

Entitled “Funding For the Future,” the campaign furthers the Iowa 4-H council’s 2005-2006 charge to support activities available to intermediatesand seniors (grades 7 - 12) and reach out to all Iowa youth.

All Iowa youth, from rising high school freshmen through graduating seniors, may attend the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference, set for June 27-29 on the Iowa State campus in Ames. Funds from the campaign help secure speakers and entertainment for the event.

Counties and clubs compete against one another in such campaign categories as the most dollars contributed per member, most dollars contributed by county and the most improved level of giving. Awards are presented during the June conference.
