Crawford County 4-H Member Receives Dostal Memorial 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa – A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Crawford County 4-H member. Jessica Slavik, Schleswig, received a Dostal Memorial 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the family of Ralph and Agnes Dostal.

Slavik, a nine-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Doyle and Rhonda Slavik. She has served as president, secretary and historian of her 4-H club. Slavik has participated most actively in the citizenship, communication, photography, food and nutrition and rabbits project areas. She received a number of state project awards. Slavik is involved in the Collegiate 4-H, Collegiate FFA, Block & Bridle, Pre Vet Club, and Student Alumni Association activities.

"4-H is a character-building program that assists youth in becoming better, more responsible adults," Slavik said. "The development of leadership, citizenship and communication skills will serve me long after any project has come to an end."

Slavik attends Iowa State University, College of Agriculture and majors in animal science, pre veterinary and animal ecology.
