AMES, Iowa – A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Union County 4-H member. Brooke Peppmeier, Shannon City, received a Pioneer Community College 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.
Peppmeier, a nine-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Ken and Lori Peppmeier. She has served as vice president, historian and photographer of her 4-H club. Peppmeier has participated most actively in the swine, cattle, horse, photography and visual arts project areas. She received a state-level Swine Project award and numerous local-level 4-H awards. Peppmeier participated in County 4-H Council, County Fair Swine Committee and the Iowa 4-H Animal Science Roundup.
"As a young child, I enjoyed the farm, but it wasn’t until I joined 4-H that I became involved in the farming industry," Peppmeier said. "It was through 4-H that I developed a passion for working with livestock."
Peppmeier, a recent graduate of Creston High School, plans to attend Southwestern Community College to study agricultural business.
