Jones County 4-H Member Receives Persinger-Asmus Family 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa – A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Jones County 4-H member. Jaclyn Manternach, Cascade, received a Persinger-Asmus Family 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Persinger and Asmus families.

Manternach, an eight-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Ray and Jill Manternach. She has served as president, vice president and secretary of her 4-H club. Manternach has participated most actively in the leadership, communications, food and nutrition, visual arts and woodworking project areas. She received county awards in citizenship, leadership and communication and a State Communications project award. Manternach was a member of County 4-H Council, County Youth Committee and participated in Iowa 4-H Youth Conference. She is currently a co-programming chair of Collegiate 4-H.

"Many of the 4-H citizenship activities that I participated in also gave me the chance to gain leadership skills. I am currently selected to serve as a youth representative on the Iowa 4-H Youth Development Leadership Committee," Manternach said. "My leadership, citizenship and communication skills have definitely been strengthened through the 4-H program opportunities."

Manternach attends Iowa State University and majors in English and Speech Education.
