6/9/2006

AMES, Iowa – A $500 scholarship has been awarded to an Audubon County 4-H member. Daniel Hansen, Audubon, received a Pioneer Community College Scholarship sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc.

Hansen, an 11-year 4-H member, is the son of Rick and Paulette Hansen. He has served as president, treasurer and reporter of his 4-H club. Hansen has participated most actively in the beef, foods, wildlife, woodworking and photography project areas. He has served on County 4-H Council and County Youth Committee. Hansen was a Division Champion in the feeder calf show at the Iowa State Fair.

"I am extremely proud to be a farm boy, and I know I have learned the value of hard work from my father. I realized at an early age that living on a Century Farm and working the land was something special," Hansen said. "Agriculture has been stamped into my heart and soul."

Hansen, a recent graduate of Elk Horn-Kimballton High School, plans to attend Des Moines Area Community College to study ag business.
