Woodbury County 4-H Member Receives Goering Communication 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa – A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Woodbury County 4-H member. Melanie Adam, Sioux City, received a Goering Communication 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the Goering Communication Scholarship Fund.
Adam, a nine-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Brian and Kay Adam. She has served as president, vice president and secretary of her 4-H club. Adam has participated most actively in the communications, leadership, citizenship, family heritage and food and nutrition project areas. She received the Danforth and Spirit of 4-H awards. Adam participated in National 4-H Conference and National 4-H Congress and received several state-level Communication and Leadership awards.
"4-H has significantly improved my leadership and communication skills," Adam said. "I have promoted 4-H through several ‘Letters to the Editor’ of the Sioux City Journal, and I have spoken on several 4-H–related interviews on a local news channel, as well as a radio interview."
Adam plans to attend Iowa State University to study history.
