6/9/2006
AMES, Iowa – A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Hardin County 4-H member. Jill Madden, Alden, received an Iowa State Fair 4-H Scholarship sponsored by the Iowa Foundation for Advancement of Agriculture.
Madden, a nine-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Randy and Connie Madden. She has served as president and secretary of her 4-H club. Madden has participated most actively in the market beef, breeding beef and market swine project areas. She has participated in Iowa State Fair for eight years. Madden was also a member of County 4-H Council.
"My animal projects and show experiences have given me a passion for agriculture and meeting people," Madden said. "The 4-H experience has played a key role in shaping my dream of completing an undergraduate degree in genetics and applying to law school with the goal of a career in genetic patents and intellectual property."
Madden, a recent graduate of Hubbard-Radcliffe High School, plans to attend Iowa State University to study genetics.
