Hamilton County 4-H Member Receives Schmalenberger 4-H Scholarship

AMES, Iowa – A $ 1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Hamilton County 4-H member. Whitney Holt, Ellsworth, received a Schmalenberger 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Carl Schmalenberger and Memorial Funds.

Holt, a 10-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Tim and Jean Holt. She has served as president, vice president and secretary of her 4-H club. Holt has participated most actively in the sheep, rabbits and beef project areas. She has participated in County 4-H Council and attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference. Holt received Agriculture, Leadership, and Special Interest awards.

"4-H is an organization that has impacted my life greatly," Holt said. "It has influenced me to become a positive leader and know that I can reach my goals in life."

Holt, a recent graduate of South Hamilton High School, plans to attend Iowa State University to study animal science.
