6/8/2006

AMES, Iowa – A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Sac County 4-H member. Lindsey Currie, Schaller, received a Stakey 4-H Scholarship sponsored by 4-H Foundation Scholarship Fund and 4-H Alumni Contributions to Iowa.

Currie, a 10-year 4-H member, is the daughter of Keith and Nancy Currie. She has served as president, vice president and junior leader of her 4-H club. Currie has participated most actively in the leadership, citizenship and food and nutrition project areas. She is a member of State 4-H Council. Currie received an Ak-Sar-Ben Award, a Top Senior Record Keeping System Award, and a number of 4-H County awards. She was a member of County Youth Committee and attended the Iowa 4-H Youth Conference.

"One of the workshops at the Iowa State 4-H Youth Conference sparked my interest in food and nutrition, which is the area I plan to study in college," Currie said. "4-H also allowed me to travel, meet diverse people and learn valuable skills."

Currie, a recent graduate of Schaller-Crestland High School, plans to attend Iowa State University to study dietetics.
