AMES, Iowa -- A $2,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Keokuk County student. Ashlee Streigle, Delta, received a Hills Bank 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Hills Bank and Trust Company.
The Hills Bank 4-H Scholarship is awarded to as many as 20 students each year. The recipients, who apply during their junior year in high school, attend nine hours of leadership training sponsored by Hills Bank and Trust Company during their senior year. Afterward, they receive $500 per semester for two years. The scholarship may be used at any of Iowa's accredited universities, colleges or community colleges.
"I have become more confident as a leader because of the training program," Streigle, daughter of Jon Streigle, said. "Leadership is an important life skill that will help guide me through the rest of my life."
Streigle is a member of 4-H and has participated in band, track, cheerleading and Sigourney Honor Society. She is the recipient of the Seal of Excellence and Seal of Recognition for 4-H presentations and projects.
Streigle has served as her 4-H club reporter, her class secretary, Sigourney Honor Society secretary and FCCLA secretary.
As a senior at Sigourney High School, Streigle plans to attend the University of Northern Iowa to study communications and journalism.
