AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to a Washington County 4-H member. Jodi Ebert, Washington, has received the Schulte 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Florine and Ron Swanson in honor of Sylvia Brockschink Schulte.
Ebert, a nine-year member, is the daughter of Bill and Kathy Ebert. She is active in child development, photography, home economics and food and nutrition project areas. Ebert is the recipient of the County Council Leadership Award and has won photography project awards. She has served on county, area and state 4-H councils and as president, vice-president and secretary of her 4-H club. In school, Ebert is the president of Volunteers of Washington and has served as secretary and treasurer of Art Service Club. She is also part of her church youth group, Luther League, and has participated in church retreats to Chicago, Atlanta and the Quad Cities.
"4-H has impacted my career choice in many ways," Ebert said. "I plan to become an elementary education teacher and 4-H has helped me know that this is the right thing for me. I have been in the position of 'teacher' in 4-H so many times that I feel it is the perfect job for me."
Ebert graduated from Washington High School in May and plans to attend the University of Northern Iowa to major in elementary education.
