AMES, Iowa -- A $500 scholarship has been awarded to an Allamakee County 4-H member. Amanda Myers, Waukon, has received the Prestage - Stoecker Farms 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Stoecker Farms, Inc.
Myers, a nine-year member, is the daughter of Mike and Teresa Myers. She is active in market and breeding beef, food and nutrition and visual arts project areas. Myers is the recipient of the Overall 4-H Achievement Award, AK-SAR-BEN Award and other awards in communication, leadership and citizenship. Myers has attended the Iowa 4-H Conference, served on county and area 4-H councils and as president, vice-president and secretary of her 4-H club. In school, she is active in National Honor Society, S.A.D.D., FFA and was named an Outstanding Student of America.
"The most important thing I have received from the 4-H program is how to set goals and accomplish them, " Myers said. "I have learned and experienced so many things that I may not have had the opportunity to without 4-H."
Myers graduated from Waukon High School in May and plans to attend Iowa State University to major in animal science.
