Work of 4-H Photographers will be Shown at Iowa State Fair
7/12/2006
AMES, Iowa – Iowa State Fairgoers can expect to see the work of nearly 600 young photographers on display in the 4-H Exhibits Building August 10-20.
This 4-H photography exhibit is the largest in the state, if not the nation, according to Mitch Hoyer, 4-H program specialist. In Iowa the 4-H photography project enrolls nearly 13,500 youth, topping all other states.
“Fairgoers can expect to see a wonderful collection of photos from 4-H members from all Iowa counties,” Hoyer said. “Everything from nature to friends to local events is captured in these photography exhibits. It’s a wonderful way for youth to express their creativity.”
4-H’ers enrolled in photography learn about techniques used to create high-quality photos through workshops and manuals. They use these techniques to take photographs during the project year and select their best efforts for competition.
At the state fair judges will recognize the top 20 exhibits with the Professional Photographers of Iowa Gallery Award. Each 4-H’er chosen for this honor will receive a plaque.
