This article is from the Extension Connection newsletter, Summer 2006.

Looking for information on IRS rulings, ownership of county roads, family litigation or public right-of-way? Then check Iowa State University Extension’s expanded agricultural law section of the Ag Decision Maker Web site.

The expanded Web site includes court opinions from ag-related cases since 2000, as well as information on current legal issues, taxes and contracts. The site also explains common legal terms, basic rules of contracting and key ag law developments.

Roger McEowen, Leonard Dolezal Professor in Agricultural Law at Iowa State University, offers commentary on recent legal issues and provides summaries of state and federal court opinions.

There is always a high demand for agricultural legal issues, and the Web site is a way for some of that information to get out,” McEowen said.

The new section will be of most interest to farmers, lawyers and farm consultants, McEowen said.

E-mail replies from Web site users say “being able to check in with experts is very helpful.”
