ISU Extension Offers Pasture and Cow-Calf Field Day

A Pasture and Cow-Calf Management Field Day will be held from 4 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 3 near Hubbard. Topics include paddock layouts, fencing, grassland management, weed and brush control, Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) contracts, use of corn co-products, estrus synchronization programs and calf market outlook.

 

Presenters include Iowa State University (ISU) Extension livestock and beef specialists Daryl Strohbehn, Dan Loy, Dan Morrical, John Lawrence and Russ Euken, along with Jane Hanson, Dow AgroScience Pasture Specialist and Gary Hillmer, Hardin County NRCS Director.   

 

A complimentary barbeque supper will be prepared by Hardin County Cattlemen Association members and served at 6 p.m.

 

The field day will be held at the Dan Cook Family farm located in Grant Township at 23736 290th Street. The location is three miles east of Hubbard on D-55, south three-fourths of a mile on N Avenue and one-fourth mile west on 290th Street.

 

There is no cost to attend and pre-registration is not required.
