Agricultural Drainage Design Workshops set for March


AMES, Iowa – Agricultural drainage design is the topic for a series of one-day workshops to be held throughout Iowa during the week of March 13.


“Producers looking to install a new drainage system or retrofit an existing system will want to attend this program,” said Matt Helmers, Iowa State University (ISU) Extension agricultural engineer. “The workshops will focus on drainage design, economics of drainage, water management, legal issues related to drainage and tips on choosing a contractor.”  


The same workshop will be offered at five locations. All programs begin at 9:30 a.m. and adjourn at 3 p.m. The dates and locations are listed below.


March 13, Armstrong Research Farm, 53020 Hitchcock Avenue, Lewis

March 14, Storm Lake AEA Building, 824 Flindt, Storm Lake

March 15, Dows Convention Center, 119 E. Ellsworth Drive, Dows

March 16, The Sportsmen Restaurant, 1042 Jackson Ave, Oelwein

March 17, Washington County Conservation Center, Highway 92, Ainsworth


The program is sponsored by Iowa State University Extension, the Iowa Land Improvements Contractors Association and industry partners. 


Certified Crop Advisors can earn 1.5 Soil and Water Management CEUs for attending this program. The registration fee, including lunch and refreshments, is $30 for those registered through March 4.
