AMES, Iowa-- A $1,000 scholarship has been awarded to a Washington County 4-H member. Spencer Pfeifer, Wayland, has received an Orscheln 4-H Scholarship sponsored by Orscheln, Inc.
Pfeifer, a nine-year 4-H member, is the son of George and Jolisa Pfeifer. He has participated most actively in the sheep, photography, garden, woodworking, and aerospace project areas. He received a state-level 4-H award for photography, and locally received champion production lamb and champion rate of gain. He was also a Clover Kids mentor and helped the youth prepare and show their sheep at their county fair.
“4-H has given me the opportunity to experience things that have helped me tremendously throughout my high school career,” commented Pfeifer. “My 4-H experiences and participation have helped me understand that I have to work hard towards my goals to be successful.”
Pfeifer, a recent graduate of WACO High School, plans to attend Iowa State University to possibly study Agricultural and Biosystems.
