Pasture Walk Set for Sept. 6 in Van Buren County

BONAPARTE, Iowa – Beef producers can attend a pasture walk, scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 6 at the Gary and Justin Page beef operation near Bonaparte.

 

“We have a great agenda planned with presentations that any beef producer would find useful,” says Byron Leu, Iowa State University (ISU) Extension livestock specialist. 

 

Speakers slated for the seminar include Leu, Jane Hanson, Dow AgroSciences; Mark Carlton, ISU Extension crop specialist and Adam Ward, Chem Gro. Topics to be presented include:

  • Brush and weed control options
  • Renovation of existing pastures with legumes
  • Pasture supplementation
  • Pasture fertilization

The pasture walk begins at 5:30 p.m. and will include a meal by the Bonaparte Main Street Group. There is no registration fee, but attendees should RSVP by calling (319) 293-3039. For more information, contact Byron Leu at (641) 472-4166 or visit the calendar page at www.iowabeefcenter.org.

 

Directions: from Bonaparte, travel 1.2 miles east on 1st Street (Hawk Boulevard), turn left on 235th Road and proceed one mile. Signs to the pasture walk will be posted. The pasture walk is sponsored by Dow AgroSciences, Van Buren County Extension, Chem Gro and the Iowa Beef Center at ISU.
